Pomeroy’s Petrifying Halloween Party 2008

Pomeroy’s, that pit of petrifying pestilence! Be afraid—be very afraid!

POMEROY’S FIRST HALLOWEEN PARTY, FRIDAY 31 OCTOBER, 2008

Galleries of good social event photography should be an energetic expression of the real event, which was such a great time. The photos need to do justice to it by conveying all of the paranormal pestilence and deadly energy of the night, and the sense of place, a Halloween Party in Christchurch’s favourite old English pub.

Silver Cloud product launch even invitation.

A documentary photo essay that I shot of the fabulous Silver Cloud 100% Pure Agave liquor launch event at Nicola’s Cantina in Nelson New Zealand.

The feature of the launch event was the auction by Terry Knight of only the first two of the thirty bottle limited release, bottles number 30 and 29, which sold on the night for a tidy NZD$400 and $450 respectively, a fitting testament to the quality of the pure agave liquor, the packaging, the branding and the success of the well promoted and event managed launch of event.

‘Only two for Everest’ book launch event

A friend’s father, Ed Cotter, has had a biographical book ‘Only two for Everest’ by author Lyn McKinnon (pictured above) published. This post contains galleries of the book launch event at the Sumner Surf Life Saving Club last Thursday night, 6 October 2016.

The book tells the untold story of Ed Cotter’s mountaineering career in the 1950s. It describes how a Kiwi expedition to the Himalaya, culminating in a first ascent of Mukut Parbat in NW India by Riddiford and Cotter, shaped climbing history.

Hampton Downs Summer Classic racing 2015

You would have to say the main focus of the Hampton Downs Summer Classic weekend for VRNZ was the Eldee and the opportunity, with Bill Swallow being out here from the U.K., for him to ride the Eldee Velocette for the first time post the Junior Manx Classic race at the IOM TT in August 2014.

Some significant engine modifications have been done since then including the new cams (which Nick Thompson described in his journal of the event). They were given a careful going over and we were keen to relate back Bill’s new engine lap times this year to Chris Swallow’s lap timesheets last year with the old engine running on methanol which had been such a great success.

Hampton Downs is a fast circuit so Chris’ quick times last year were the basis for encouraging us to consider competing in last year’s 250cc ‘Phil Read’ Classic TT trophy. The new Nick Thompson Eldee-2 engine of course is running on petrol which is altogether a more challenging prospect to tune as a small engine.

The launch of New Zealand’s new solid wood, interlocking timber building construction firm EuroWood Construction’s information and promotional website and news blog in December 2014 was a combined brand launch and website design project. It has been well received by the client and their market. The project was a collaboration between MagentaDot Brands, Identity Signs, and the client who content managed/populated the site.

Good web design appeals by communicating visually in attractive and useful ways

AbsoluteProof logoAs a brand builder I approached web design in 1998 with almost two decades of the experience of daily work in graphic design, working alongside great designers in advertising, design, illustration and photography so I was inspired, had a real enthusiasm to design great web experiences. I was inspired to confront the the limits of my knowledge and embrace the future of graphic design. I wanted to use this new media to communicate visually in attractive and useful ways.
