Team VRNZ riders Chris Swallow aboard the Eldee and Cloud Craig-Smith riding a Norton Special 500 were also contenders in this Class as well as aboard the KTTs in the Pre ‘63 Girder forks class.

The 13 riders that made their way to the 2015 Bluff Promotions NZ Hill Climb Champs to compete included one from Australia three North Island riders. The Open Class bikes ranged in age from a 1999 Yamaha RZ 1000 to two 2015 machines, an MV Agusta 675 and a Yamaha R1 1000. The Bluff Hillclimb is the event that kicked that off the 2015 tenth Anniversary Burt on Thursday 26 November, 2015.

These shots showcase most of the riders & machines in the Up to 600cc Class who turned on the roaring spectacle on the streets of small town Bluff, at the southernmost tip of New Zealand in November 2016. Riders like the courageous “Rider 1/2”, acclaimed Aussie battler, double amputee and motorbike racer Alan Kempster. The 36 riders and machines that made their way to the 2015 Bluff Promotions NZ Hill Climb Champs to compete included three from Australia and from as far afield as Rotorua in New Zealand. The Up to 600cc bikes ranged in age from a 2000 Yamaha to 2016 Hondas and KTMs. The Bluff Hillclimb is the event kicked that off the four day 2015 tenth Anniversary Burt on Thursday 26 November, 2015.

‘Only two for Everest’ book launch event

A friend’s father, Ed Cotter, has had a biographical book ‘Only two for Everest’ by author Lyn McKinnon (pictured above) published. This post contains galleries of the book launch event at the Sumner Surf Life Saving Club last Thursday night, 6 October 2016.

The book tells the untold story of Ed Cotter’s mountaineering career in the 1950s. It describes how a Kiwi expedition to the Himalaya, culminating in a first ascent of Mukut Parbat in NW India by Riddiford and Cotter, shaped climbing history.

The final Bionona logo creates a strong signature for the company. The logo design is an infographic symbol of a snip genetic code from a novel peptide developed in the lab.

When offered the chance to design branding and packaging for Bionona’s new Atopis™ Therapeutics patented daily skin care range initiative, I leapt at the chance for the reason that it was an opportunity to work directly with the scientist Iona Weir, who discovered and developed the novel compounds that are the active ingredient, and research scientists are pretty much heroes of mine. Atopis™ is a clinically proven, patented, therapeutic cream that has been specifically designed for the long-term safe management of skin conditions usually managed with steroidal creams, such as eczema, psoriasis and acne.

Brands for New Zealand / International organisations.The bikes that made their way to the track up Bluff Hill in the Pre ‘82 class at the 2015 Bluff Promotions NZ Hill Climb Champs were a diverse range of machines. They ranged from hot street bikes to high performance sidecars, while the intrepid riders hailed from Invercargill to Waihi, Timaru, Greymouth, Geraldine, Richmond and Pahiatua to participate in this thrilling event that kicked off the 2015 Burt Munro Challenge. The Post Classic Pre ‘82 class are motorcycles built or manufactured between 1st November 1972 and 31st December 1982.

Kicking off proceedings on Thursday 26th November with the Bluff Hill NZ National Hill Climb championships, the Teretonga Circuit Races & Practice Day spanning Friday–Saturday and culminating in the hugely successful new Honda Invercargill Street Races on Sunday 29th. Racing for the Classic Pre ‘63 class (with and without girder forks), including Phil Price’s superb collection of original 1930s Velocette racing machines, covered the aforementioned 3 events.

9:00–10:43 pm, completion of culvert installation

Brands for New Zealand companies, Greymouth, New Zealand.Immediately after the final upstream section of culvert was placed at 9:10 pm, the 6 x high-tension steel threaded rebars were completely pushed through the 10.5m culvert. The multi-thread 80 ton post-tensioning of the culvert was executed using a Hydraulic Steel Rebar Tensioner. The task of tensioning the first tierod got underway just before 9:30 pm.

Installing the precast box culvert

The bedding design for the box culvert was designed by the Opus Engineer who is knowledgeable about the Arthur’s Pass ground conditions which thereby ensured a successful installation.

Excavation and preparation of the box culvert bedding foundation

TruLine Civil is an experienced Box Culvert installation contractor who understands the importance of bedding the culvert structure properly. The excavation cut was down to 4.8m below the rails.
